A woman who had been trapped for 10 days following devastating floods in Nepal has been rescued alive, providing a rare moment of hope amid the widespread destruction.
Chandika Shrestha was trapped on the upper floor of a four-storey building in the Petravati area of Nuwakot district. The building had been affected by flooding and landslides in the region.
A rescue team from the Armed Police Force (APF) successfully located and rescued Shrestha after she remained trapped inside the damaged building for 10 days.
Following the rescue, arrangements were made to transport the woman to Kathmandu by helicopter for further medical treatment.
The rescue comes as Nepal continues to deal with the severe impact of flooding, with thousands of people reported dead and many others missing across the affected areas.
The successful rescue of Chandika Shrestha after 10 days has brought renewed hope to ongoing rescue operations, particularly for those who may still be trapped or missing in flood- and landslide-affected areas.
