DVAC Registers Case Against Former Minister K.N. Nehru Over Alleged Rs. 1,020 Crore Tender Irregularities

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a case against former Tamil Nadu minister K.N. Nehru and others in connection with alleged irregularities in tenders awarded by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in the tender process during the period from 2021 to 2025, when K.N. Nehru was associated with the department. The allegations are currently under investigation by the anti-corruption agency.

According to the allegations in the case, irregularities in government contracts and tender processes resulted in alleged illegal financial benefits estimated at around Rs. 1,020 crore. The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law, including the Prevention of Corruption Act.

As part of the investigation, DVAC officials conducted simultaneous searches on September 5 at around 30 locations linked to K.N. Nehru, his brothers and others. The searches were carried out across several locations in Tamil Nadu in connection with the alleged tender irregularities.

During the searches, DVAC officials reportedly seized 241 documents and electronic evidence that the agency said were connected to the alleged irregularities in the tender process. The seized material is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

The investigation is focused on alleged irregularities associated with contracts and tenders issued by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department during the relevant period. Officials are examining the documents and electronic evidence collected during the searches to establish the details of the transactions and the roles of those named in the case.

K.N. Nehru has denied the allegations and has described the action as politically motivated. The allegations against him remain part of an ongoing investigation, and no final conclusion has been reached in the case.

The DVAC investigation is expected to continue with further examination of the documents and electronic evidence seized during the searches. The agency will determine the next course of action based on the findings of the investigation.
