The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several districts across Tamil Nadu, with 9 districts expected to receive heavy rain today (May 29) and 14 districts likely to experience similar conditions tomorrow (May 30).
According to the weather department, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining parts of Tamil Nadu at an altitude of approximately 3.1 km to 5.8 km above sea level. This atmospheric condition is expected to trigger widespread rainfall activity across the state.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph is likely at isolated places in:
- Kanniyakumari
- Theni
- Dindigul
- Nilgiris
- Vellore
- Tirupattur
- Krishnagiri
- Dharmapuri
- Ranipet
Districts Likely to Receive Heavy Rain Tomorrow (May 30)
Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds is forecast in:
- Tiruchirappalli
- Namakkal

- Dharmapuri
- Karur

Temperature Outlook
The maximum temperature across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal is not expected to change significantly today and tomorrow. However, temperatures are likely to gradually decrease between May 31 and June 2, 2026.
Due to the combination of high temperatures and humidity, discomfort may persist in some coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
