Residents of Krishnagiri experienced a welcome change in weather as heavy rain accompanied by hailstones and strong winds lashed the district on Friday evening.
The rain began around 4 PM and continued for nearly an hour across Krishnagiri and its surrounding areas. Several localities, including Kandikuppam, witnessed hailstone showers, creating excitement among residents.
Children were seen collecting hailstones and playing outdoors, enjoying the rare weather phenomenon. The sudden rainfall and hailstorm drew attention from local residents, many of whom welcomed the cooler conditions after days of intense summer heat.
However, the strong winds accompanying the rain disrupted electricity supply in some areas. Power department personnel have been engaged in restoration work to normalize electricity distribution as quickly as possible.
The unexpected downpour significantly reduced temperatures and brought a pleasant atmosphere across the region. Women, children, and elderly residents expressed happiness as the rain provided much-needed relief from the scorching weather conditions that had prevailed in recent weeks.
The rainfall is also expected to benefit local agriculture and improve overall weather conditions in the district following a prolonged period of high temperatures.
