The Food Safety Department has launched a three-month intensive inspection across Coimbatore to ensure that the public receives safe and quality food.
The inspection will cover hotels, roadside food stalls, private hostel messes, school and college hostel kitchens, and anganwadis across the district.
Around 30,000 food establishments in 23 key areas of Coimbatore are expected to come under the inspection drive. Officials will check hygiene standards, food quality, licensing and other food safety requirements at food preparation and sales premises.
Strict action, including spot fines, will be taken against hotels and food establishments found violating food safety regulations.
The inspection drive aims to strengthen food safety standards and ensure that residents of Coimbatore have access to hygienic, safe and quality food.
