The convincing victory significantly boosted KKR’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs, while Delhi Capitals suffered another setback in the race for the top four.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals struggled from the very beginning as KKR bowlers maintained disciplined line and length throughout the innings.
Delhi’s opening pair found it difficult to score freely against the pace attack, with wickets falling regularly during the powerplay overs. Sri Lankan batter Pathum Nissanka played a fighting innings under pressure and attempted to stabilize the innings with elegant stroke play through the covers and square region.
However, the lack of support from the middle order severely hurt Delhi Capitals as Kolkata tightened their grip on the match.
KKR bowlers executed their plans brilliantly across all phases of the innings. Kartik Tyagi impressed with his pace and accuracy, troubling batters with short balls and yorkers during the death overs.
Spinner Anukul Roy also played a key role by breaking important partnerships and controlling the scoring rate in the middle overs.

Opener Finn Allen completely changed the course of the game with a breathtaking attacking display. The New Zealand batter played fearless cricket from the outset, smashing boundaries across the ground against both pace and spin bowling.
