Nearly 12,000 people have been rescued following the devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal, while 4,216 people remain missing. The death toll has risen to 1,204, according to Nepal’s disaster management authority.
More than 21,300 security personnel, including members of the Army, Police and Armed Police Force, have been deployed for search and rescue operations across flood- and landslide-hit areas.
Rasuwa and Nuwakot remain among the worst-affected districts, with 865 and 1,558 people respectively reported missing. The missing include 583 foreign nationals and 164 Nepalis who were accompanying tourists.
The Nepal Army has carried out 690 aerial rescue flights, airlifting 4,364 people, including 4,091 Nepalis and 273 foreigners. Private operators have also conducted 29 flights to deliver relief supplies and rescue stranded people.
Authorities continue to prioritise search and rescue operations, along with the delivery of food, medicines and other essential supplies to areas cut off by damaged roads and infrastructure.
