Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs at Wankhede Stadium, with Phil Salt winning Player of the Match after a strong batting performance.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in an exciting match held at Wankhede Stadium on April 12. Chasing a massive target of 241 runs, Mumbai Indians managed to score 222 runs despite a strong batting effort.
Mumbai’s innings saw aggressive batting right from the powerplay until the final overs, but missed opportunities to convert key deliveries into boundaries proved costly. Sherfane Rutherford played a remarkable unbeaten knock of 71 runs off 31 balls, smashing 9 sixes and a boundary. Captain Hardik Pandya contributed 40 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav added 33 and Ryan Rickelton scored 37.
Earlier, RCB’s opening pair of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave the team a strong start, putting up a 120-run partnership for the first wicket. Kohli, along with Rajat Patidar, scored crucial half-centuries to build a solid total. In the final overs, Tim David added a quick 34 runs, which proved vital in setting up the win.
Phil Salt was named Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance, playing a key role in securing the victory for RCB.
