Tamil Nadu Government Allocates Portfolios to 9 Ministers in CM Vijay’s Cabinet
The Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Vijay has officially allocated portfolios to nine ministers who took oath on May 10.
The Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has officially allocated portfolios to the nine ministers who took oath along with him on May 10.
The delay in portfolio allocation had attracted criticism, as departments were not assigned even six days after the swearing-in ceremony.
Following this, Chief Minister Vijay’s Private Secretary Senthil Kumar met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar regarding the allocation of ministerial responsibilities and cabinet expansion.
After the meeting, the government announced the official distribution of portfolios among the ministers.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will directly handle key departments including Police, Home Affairs, Public Administration, Women Development, Youth Welfare, Child Welfare, Welfare of Senior Citizens, Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Municipal Administration, Urban Development, and Drinking Water Supply.
The remaining portfolios have been allocated as follows:
- N. Anand – Rural Development and Water Resources Department, including Panchayat Administration and Irrigation Projects.
- Adhav Arjuna – Public Works Department, Highways, Ports, and Sports Development.
- K.G. Arunraj – Health and Family Welfare Department, including Medical Education.
- K.A. Sengottaiyan – Finance and Pensions Department.
- P. Venkataramanan – Food and Consumer Supplies Department.
- R. Nirmalkumar – Electricity and Law Department.
- Rajmohan – School Education, Tamil Development, Information, and Public Relations Department.
- D.K. Prabhu – Mines and Mineral Resources Department.
- S. Keerthana – Industries Department, including Factories and Investment Promotion.
The allocation of portfolios is expected to accelerate administrative functioning and policy implementation under the newly formed government.
