Iran Warns of Renewed Restrictions on Strait of Hormuz Shipping Amid US Naval Blockade

Iran has warned that it will reimpose restrictions on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz if the ongoing naval blockade by the United States Navy continues. The development comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States over military actions and control of key maritime routes.

Earlier, Iran had allowed commercial vessels from all countries to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on April 17 following a temporary ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. However, the situation has escalated after Donald Trump announced that the US naval blockade on Iranian ports would continue.

In response, Iran’s military command stated that the Strait of Hormuz would be brought back under strict operational control and that shipping movement could be halted again if the blockade persists. The Iranian military emphasized that the waterway would remain under its supervision and that restrictions would be enforced to counter US actions.

The warning follows failed initial peace talks between the United States and Iran held under the mediation of Pakistan. With US forces continuing to blockade Iranian ports, concerns are growing over disruptions to global trade and oil supply routes, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.
