Heavy Rain Likely in Tamil Nadu from April 30, Says Meteorological Department
The India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu from April 30, with thunderstorms expected across several districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Madurai.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu starting April 30, due to a trough in the lower atmosphere extending from north interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar through south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
On April 29, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected at isolated places over the Western Ghats districts, southern Tamil Nadu, delta coastal regions, and Karaikal. The rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to experience dry weather.
For April 30 and May 1, scattered rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations in districts such as Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri.
On May 2, heavy rain is expected in districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, and Virudhunagar.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to remain 2–3°C above normal between April 29 and May 3. High humidity combined with elevated temperatures may cause discomfort, especially in coastal regions.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 38–39°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 28°C.
Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and high heat conditions.
